Evolution, Religion, and Death [Dorothea Leicher]

Abstract:

The presentation conceptualizes “death-transitions” as alternatives to the death anxiety of Terror Management Theory. Cognitive evolution from individual survival to social cooperation and altruism (attachment) will be reviewed and related to persistent features of religions. Dialectics and its reflection in Jungian ideas will be discussed as a biological logic.
